Guild Member, Director, and Owner of Poilâne Bakery
I hope this letter finds you well after an Olympic summer!
I’m reaching out to invite your creativity, baking skills, and community to join us in our month-long fundraiser this September, our Bread Celebration.
Preamble & the ‘Why’
The Guild provides essential education, tools, and support, empowering our members to produce outstanding baked products while running strong, sustainable businesses. We are committed to the dual goals of craft and commerce, valuing both the romance and realism of working as artisan bakers.
As a baker and bakery owner, I’ve found a collaborative community of like-minded souls—bakers who care deeply about the products we make and the people who make them. In our programs and services, I’ve discovered resources to improve and innovate both my baking and business practices.
As a mission-driven nonprofit organization, the Guild relies on fundraising to develop new programs that respond to our members' needs and interests, such as the Bakery Leadership Circle and Building Blocks series. These efforts also enable us to keep our programs and services affordable for all, ensuring financial barriers don’t hinder access. This is why your participation in the Bread Celebration is so vital.
What is Bread Celebration all about?
Throughout September, in partnership with our members across the U.S. and beyond, we wish to celebrate the artistry of baking and the unique contributions each of you brings to your community. Our goals are ambitious but achievable with your support. We aim to:
Raise $15,000 from our bakeries and individual members
Connect our members and their communities to our mission
Raise awareness of our mission
Celebrate the exceptional baking and bakeries within our Guild
Involve at least 75 bakeries and bakers in our Celebration
How you can be part of the Bread Celebration
Organize something that matters to you, that resembles you, and appeals to your community.
By promoting the artistry of baking and its unique contributions to your community, you’re contributing to the vibrancy and health of our Guild. Moreover, you’re promoting your business and strengthening your bond with your community too!
I look forward to seeing the incredible contributions each of you will make during this special month. Please reach out to our Executive Director, Karen Bornarth (karen@bbga.org), who will share a Bread Celebration toolkit with you. Or, make a gift today in honor of our Bread Celebration.
