This is a recording of a class that originally took place on November 13, 2024. To be efficient, bakers often fall into habits that are good for speed rather than their bodies. Recognizing and replacing these patterns with strategies to address and adjust our routines can help prevent injury and provide relief. Join baker, dancer, and educator Joe Bowie as he guides us through ways to identify and address our habits with useful strategies. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR After nearly thirty years as a professional modern dancer with two world-renowned NYC companies, Joe Bowie transitioned into artisan bread baking, training at the International Culinary Center in 2011 and later working for Le Pain Quotidien, Daniel Boulud, Dean & DeLuca, and as Sous-Baker for Major Food Group’s Sadelle’s. He has taught bread baking at the International Culinary Center and Le Pain Quotidien, founded the Cola Bread Club community-supported bakery in Columbia, SC, and now lives in Evanston, IL with his husband. Bowie recently completed an MFA in Dance at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign and currently serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Dance Program at Northwestern University.
