Mondial du Pain Informational Session

September 15 | 7:00 - 8:00pm ET | Via Zoom

Ever wondered what it takes to bake in an international competition? We are hosting an informational session on the Mondial du Pain — one of the world's most prestigious baking competitions — and how Bread Bakers Guild Team USA is selected to compete. With selection for the 2027 team coming up soon, now is the time to learn how the process works, whether you're ready to try out yourself or want to support the next Team USA.

What Is the Mondial du Pain?

Held biennially in Nantes, France, the Mondial du Pain ("World of Bread") was created in 2007 by the Ambassadeurs du Pain, a French organization dedicated to preserving and advancing artisan baking traditions. Teams from around the globe gather to compete on technical precision, innovation, and artistic presentation — showcasing the finest in bread, viennoiserie, and showpiece artistry within a demanding time frame. The competition also champions healthy baking, encouraging bakers to work with wholesome, natural ingredients.

The Guild's Legacy of Competition

The Bread Bakers Guild of America has fielded competitive teams since sending the first Team USA to the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie in 1994. Since then, Guild-sponsored bakers have brought home gold, silver, and bronze medals and helped raise the profile of American baking on the international stage. Team USA's mission has always been threefold:

  • To foster goodwill and promote education in artisan baking worldwide

  • To demonstrate the high level of skill and evolving tradition among American baking professionals

  • To instill pride and provide leadership to artisan bakers and bread lovers across the country
