Join James Beard–nominated cookbook author and pastry chef Fany Gerson for a special interactive virtual demonstration inspired by the flavors and traditions of Rosh Hashana. Fany will demonstrate her version of a traditional honey cake, along with a Mexican-inspired rugelach that brings together her Mexican heritage and Jewish traditions.
In this hands-on demonstration, Fany will walk through each recipe and the techniques step by step, sharing the stories and inspiration behind these holiday bakes along the way.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Fany Gerson is a chef, consultant, teacher, and cookbook author. Born and raised in Mexico City, she is known as one of the country’s leading authorities on Mexican-Jewish culinary traditions. She launched the acclaimed La Newyorkina, an artisanal Mexican frozen treats and sweets business, in 2010 and is also the owner and chef of Fan Fan Doughnuts in Brooklyn, NY.
Fany is the author of three cookbooks: My Sweet Mexico, a 2010 James Beard Award nominee for Best Cookbook in the Baking and Desserts category; Paletas; and Mexican Ice Cream. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Food & Wine, Fine Cooking, and Saveur, among others.
