Description

This is a recording of a class that originally took place on September 17, 2021. Mooncakes are a cherished symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, marking the arrival of fall and celebrating the first harvest under a full moon. Traditionally rich pastries filled with lotus seed paste or savory combinations of nuts, seeds, smoked ham, and cured egg yolk—echoing the golden round moon—they are encased in a delicate, supple baked dough. In this class, we explore a modern interpretation of mooncakes using seasonal ingredients sourced in Los Angeles, honoring both tradition and the fall equinox. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Cecilia Leung has been professionally baking in Los Angeles for over 18 years. She is the co-author of The Little Flower Baking Book and most recently Hop Woo: Recipes and Stories from a Chinatown Legend, written with Lupe Liang. You will receive access to a private YouTube link. This is an unedited recording of a live webinar originally offered via Zoom. You may watch it at any time and as many times as you like, but you may not share the link or distribute any part of the video or audio.
